The building is ultra-modern and in fitting with is function and design the external elevations needed to be contemporary. To allow the designers LSI Architects the freedom to cloak the façade, they needed the freedom to be able to decide where joints were set out architecturally and also how to work them into openings such as glazing. This could be achieved with the rainscreen systems.
The rainscreen systems were secret fix, all with flush panels and recessed joints. Panels varied in size and orientation to suit the design. The panels were mainly aluminium, but zinc and ACM were used on some feature elevations.
The windows also included solar screens which we designed and are entirely bespoke elements. Particular attention was given to the air sealing to the façade and in particular, the openings required prototype design to ensure a fully airtight solution was provided. The building achieved BREEAM ‘Excellent’ rating proving it,s sustainability long into the future.
The buildings enclose a podium courtyard and the mix of textures and shades, which result in an exceptional architectural development by all involved.
